Apron joins Tech Nation’s Future Fifty 2026 cohort

1 of only 25 UK tech companies invited.

We’ve been selected as one of 25 UK technology companies joining Tech Nation’s Future Fifty programme this year. Here’s what the programme is, and why we’re excited to be part of it.

Apron is the business payments platform that connects the whole life of a payment for small businesses. We bring invoice capture, supplier and payroll payments, expense management and bookkeeping reconciliation into one connected platform.

Now we’re joining 24 other ambitious UK technology companies to learn, swap notes and prepare for what comes next.

What is Future Fifty?

Future Fifty is Tech Nation’s invite only programme for late stage UK technology companies.

It connects founders and senior teams with experienced peers, mentors and international networks. The programme has supported more than 300 companies since it began, including Revolut, Wise, Monzo and Darktrace.

More than 30% of the UK’s unicorns have taken part. So, no pressure.

Meet the 2026 cohort

This year’s cohort includes 25 companies working across fintech, AI, healthcare, energy, aerospace and other parts of the UK technology sector.

We’ll be taking part alongside businesses including Accurx, Griffin, Healf, LemFi, Prolific and Recraft.

It’s an impressive group and we expect to learn a lot!

Together, the companies have raised £1.47 billion and employ nearly 4,000 people in the UK and internationally.

Why this matters to us

The problem we’re working on is simple to explain, even if it isn’t simple to solve.

Small businesses still manage too much of their financial admin across separate tools and disconnected processes. Invoices arrive in one place, payments happen somewhere else, expenses need chasing and payroll follows another process. Then the records have to make their way into the books.

We’re building Apron to connect that work and create opportunities for small businesses to focus on growth, rather than admin.

Being selected for Future Fifty is a welcome recognition of what our team has built so far. More importantly, the programme gives us the chance to learn from people dealing with many of the same practical challenges that come with growing a technology company.

What happens next?

For our customers and partners, our focus stays the same.

We’ll keep building a more connected way to manage business payments, from the moment a payment enters the workflow to the moment the transaction is reconciled.

Future Fifty should help us make better decisions as we do it.

Thank you to Tech Nation and Founders Forum Group for including us, and to everyone at Apron who got us here.

Onwards!
